A new state-of-the-art laboratory system for the Black Country Pathology Service
A new state-of-the-art laboratory system for the Black Country Pathology Service (BCPS) has been announced today.
The new Laboratory Information Management System (WinPath Enterprise) will reduce clinical risk and provide more complete patient history across primary and secondary care.
The new system will enable pathology services across the multiple hospital sites to work together more collaboratively than before.

The BCPA is progressing rapidly to develop a regional pathology network that will contribute 5 million annual savings to the £200 million national savings target.
The network will operate a ‘hub and spoke’ service model with the “hub” located in showcase facilities at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton and essential service laboratories (ESLs) supporting acute services in the other partner sites at Dudley, Walsall and SWBH trusts.
BCPS will provide a world class pathology service to support clinical and patients’ needs across the region.
